Mit dem blauen Himmel ist es immer noch sparsam hier. Nimmt wahrscheinlich Anlauf… Mal ist der Schnee weg, so dass wir die Matsche geniessen koennen, dann kommt er schwuppdiwupp ueber Nacht zurueck. Es ist eine wunderbare Uebung – leben mit dem, was da ist. Und nur leise schimpfen. Wenn ueberhaupt. Tatsaechlich gehe ich manchmal raus, mit den Hunden, und finde so absolut nichts verkehrt an diesem weiss-grauen Wetter. Es gibt auch darin viel schoenes zu sehen, wenn man mal genauer hinguckt. Finde ich jedenfalls.  Das Foto oben rechts machte ich am Ostermontag oder so, aber es war definitiv nicht der Osterhase, der da mal kurz den Winterschlaf unterbrach.
Alberta blue skies are still a little scarce round here. Probably gathering strength… Sometimes the snow disappears so that we can fully enjoy the mud, and then, hey presto, overnight it returns. It is a wonderful practice – living with what is. And complain under your breath only. If at all. In truth, I sometimes take the dogs for a walk and I cannot find anything wrong with the white and grey. It has its very own beauties if only one can see them. At least that’s what I think. The top right picture, btw, was taken on Easter Monday, I think, but it was definitely not the Easter bunny that interrupted its hibernation for a short outing. 

Natuerlich kommen mir bei schlechtem Gartenwetter immer viele Ideen fuer die „Innenausstattung“. Und so begaben die unerschrockene Katrin und ich uns kurz entschlossen am Sonntag (geht hier ja!) auf einen sehr verschneiten Roadtrip nach Edmonton, um uns dort bei IKEA inspirieren zu lassen. Eingekauft haben wir natuerlich auch. Und Leute geguckt – soooo bunt! Ausladen in der Matsche war dann interessant. Sagte ich neulich, Schneeschuhe seien „A girl’s best friend“? Inzwischen denke ich, vielleicht auch der Calf Sled, der Transportschlitten. Und koennt ihr sehen, was es fuer eine Ueberraschung geben wird fuer den Chef, wenn ich erstmal die Lampe auspacke? – Ich freu mich schon auf das Gesicht, auch wenn ich noch nicht wirklich weiss, wo das Ding hin soll!
Of course, when the weather makes gardening impossible, I get all these ideas for „interior decoration“. And so the fearless Katrin and I at very short notice decided to go on a, very snowy, road trip to Edmonton on Sunday (impossible in Germany) to get some inspiration at IKEA. Of course, we also bought a few items. And did some people watching – soooo colourful! Bringing the stuff into the house through the mud and snow was interesting. Do you remember that I recently talked about snowshoes being a girl’s best friend? Well, now I’m thinking, maybe the calf sled should be mentioned too. And can you see the surprise that is in store for the boss, once I unpack the lamp? – I am so looking forward to his face, even though I don’t really know, yet, where the thing is going to go!

Heute aber ist wieder alles normal. Ich habe gestern Milch geholt, gut 20 Liter, und erstmal ueber Nacht stehen lassen, damit sich die Sahne absetzen kann. Eben dann abgeschoepft – ca. 2 Liter habe ich umgefuellt, aber es waere noch mehr gegangen! Hier darf man keine Angst vor (Butter)fett haben.
Today things are back to normal. I got milk yesterday, about 20 litres, and let it sit overnight so that the cream could rise up. Before lunch, I scooped the cream off, 2 litres at least, but there would have been more! Best not be afraid of (butter)fat here.
